DAY 3    BEIJING  This morning you tour a Hutong (Old Chinese neighborhood) riding like an Emperor in a
rickshaw pedicab through the narrow lanes of the old residential quarters.
Having lunch with a local family,
you glimpse their unique homes, their daily lives and their values.
Afterwards, take a tour of the National
Performing Art Center, the Olympic Games venues such as the Bird Nest Stadium and the Water Cube
(inside entrance subject to scheduling availability).
Visit the Capital Museum, one of the best art museums in
China (subject to availability). Attend the welcome dinner party tonight.

DAY 4    BEIJING/WUHAN  Fly to Wuhan to visit the Yellow Crane Pavilion and the Hubei Provincial Museum.

xplore the exhibition of Ancient Bells. Stay overnight in Wuhan.

DAY 5   Wuhan/Yichang  After a bus ride to Yichang, at the pier in Sandouping embark on the five star
Century Cruise ship or China Regal Cruise ship.  Speund the night on the s
hip.  It departs late at night and
enters Xiling Gorge..

DAY 6   YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE:  XIILING GORGE/THREE GORGES DAM    AB, L, D
This morning enjoy a shore excursion of the Three Gorges Dam.  Return to the ship for lunch.  In the
afternoon, the cruise ship will pass through the five level ship locks of the Three Gorges Dam
, the world's
l
argest hydroelectric dam project.  Then attend the Captain's Welcome Party.

DAY 7   YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE: WU GORGE/WUSHAN/QUTANG GORGE   AB, L, D
Pass through the Wu Gorge early in the morning and sail to Wushan, where you embark in a smaller boat for
a shore excursion (see picture below) to experience the breathtaking sceneries of the Lesser Three Gorges.
Return aboard for lunch.  Continue sailing and pass through the Qutang Gorge in late afternoon.

DAY 8   YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE: FENGDU   Arrive in Fengdu, the legendary home of the King of Hades -
referred to as the "ghost city".  Go ashore to view Snow jade Cave a gallery of stalactites and stalagmites, or
visit Mingshan Hills' temples.  Return aboard for lunch.  Continue sailing for Chongqing.

DAY 9    CHONGQING/DAZU  The cruise ship will arrive in Chongqing in the morning. Tour
Chongqing before driving to Dazu. Stay overnight in Dazu.

DAY 10    DAZU/CHENGDU  This morning you
are dwarfed on shore by the towering Dazu Rock Carvings,
dating from the 9th to the 13th century. They are remarkable for their aesthetic quality, their rich diversity of
subject matter, both secular and religious, and the light that they shed on everyday life in China during this
period. They provide outstanding evidence of the harmonious synthesis of Buddhism, Taoism and
Confucianism. In the afternoon, upon driving to Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province,
have your
photograph taken
with the baby pandas at the Panda Breeding Base. Enjoy a Sichuan dinner.

DAY 11    CHENGDU/ GUILIN  Tour the Temple of Marquis Wu in memory of Zhu Ge Liang, famous strategist
of the Three Kingdoms.  
Delight in the 59 acre garden filled with streams, bridges and flowers year round at
the cottage where the Poet Du Fu lived. After free time enjoy a
delicious Sichuan dinner and Opera.  

DAY 12    GUILIN/ YANGSHUO  
Fly to Guilin famous for its limestone peaks and rivers. You will tour Elephant
Trunk Hill and Reed Flute Cave, a fairy land of limestone known as the "art gallery of nature". After breakfast,
cruise on the winding Li River to Yangshuo, an incredibly beautiful town. Its landscape is dotted with karst
peaks. ln Yangshuo, take a walking tour
, strolling on Xi Jie (West Street) called the "Global Village".  After
dinner, attend the famous performance
where the beautiful mountains and water are the stage.  This show is
a unique treat, staged by the movie director Zhang Yimou who master- minded the awesome Opening
Ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.  Local villagers and fishermen from the Zhuang and Yao ethnic
groups are the performers. Stay overnight in Yangshuo.

DAY 13    YANGSHUO/ SHANGHAI  (or HONG KONG OPTION *) This morning fly to Shanghai, China’s most
populous, futuristic metropolis. There you visit the famous Shanghai Museum of Art & History,
a world-class
museum
, always on the itinerary of foreign dignitaries. Savor a delicious evening farewell dinner party,
followed by a cruise on
the Huangpu River to enjoy the brilliant, colorful night view of Shanghai.

DAY 14    YANGSHUO/SHANGHAI  (or HONG KONG OPTION) Today's excursion takes you to Yu Garden,
Chenghuangmiao Old Town area, bustling Naning Road and the historic Bund. After lunch, enjoy free time.  If
shopping and exploring on your own are not your “cup of tea” our guides can arrange optional special tours
to suit your interest.  The Jewish ghetto, an architectural tour, the Jade Buddha, the view from the Pearl TV
Tower, or a ride on the super fast meglev train are all options
travelers have chosen in the past.

DAY 15  SHANGHAI   AB   (or HONG KONG OPTION) /NEW YORK
After breakfast, take a flight back home via Beijing. (
Meals and snacks are served on the plane).
